FFL: Washington Pulls Out Win Over Chicago 25-17
Washington will advance to the Championship by beating Chicago with a 25-17 win over Chicago, despite a great outing by Delgado. "It's a team sport," said losing coach Johnny Gunn. "If we had another couple players like Delgado out there, we'd have won this game easily. But we didn't, so we didn't." Johnny Gunn has been under fire lately, and the lackluster performance by his players (save Delgado) certainly doesn't improve his job security any.
The normally-quiet Delgado was less than satisfied after the game. "I feel betrayed - like I did my best and my teammates didn't. I don't know if it was coach's fault for not getting the team up, or if the other players just all had an off day at the same time. But this was a close game, we had our chances, and we didn't execute when we needed."
Washington was led by QB Pyrdom (273 yards and 1 touchdown), TB Ramirez (94 yards and 1 touchdown), WR Marino (106 yards). DT Zuccaro (5 tackles and 1 fumble) and CB Reddington (7 blocks) led the defense. Chicago was led by QB Delgado (278 yards and 2 touchdowns), TB Newland (46 yards and 2 touchdowns). SF Walker (11 tackles) and CB Aguirre (3 blocks and 1 interception) led the defense.
