Request For: College Basketball Request Title: Playing Time Request Question Description Sorry for putting this here, but I’m not sure how often the message board is checked. It looks like there could be quite a few transfers in the CBEL this year, and I had a question about how player transfer decisions work. If a player leaves a top Tier 1 team because of a lack of playing time, will that player be more willing to transfer to a lower-prestige team where they would have a better opportunity to play? This could have a significant effect on how I approach roster cuts going into the season. If transferring players still strongly prefer other high-prestige programs, even when playing time there isn’t guaranteed, then I would be more hesitant to cut certain players. But if lack of playing time makes them more open to lower-prestige teams where they could have a larger role, that changes the calculation quite a bit. Just wondering how much playing-time opportunity factors into transfer decisions compared with team prestige.
