Request For: Pro and College Basketball
Request Title: Bug in Box and 1 Defense
Description As indicated in my Northern Iowa press and an additional e-mail to Andy, the Box and 1 defensive logic appears to be screwed up. Individual matchups are being ignored and the computer is often defaulting to a generic PG on PG matchup for the "and 1." Check examples for both Northern Iowa and various BOB teams this season.
Category: Bug Resolution
Status: Completed (last updated Sep 20 20:35:04 2023
)
Priority: Top Priority
Admin Notes A bug in the computer coaching settings for box&1 and double player defenses has been corrected. This will allow computer-coached teams to be more effective when applying either of those defenses.

Dagger Dave DD (Jan 11 15:37:24 2022
): Andy, EVERY computer opponent facing Santa Clara this past season used a box-and-1 defense, ostensibly to shut down the nation's leading scorer (Jackson). Unfortunately, in every instance, the Box-and-1 incorrectly covered Espinoza (3 ppg) instead of Jackson (all 21 games). Something is rotten in California!! Human-coached Alabama also used the Box-and-1 versus Santa Clara, with the same result: Espinoza, not Jackson, was targeted. Hopefully, you can check this out before the implementation of Season 109.
Stephen Thompson (Sep 28 09:01:05 2022
): This problem is easily seen again by looking at Santa Clara's games this season. SG Orlowski is #2 in the national player of the year standings and is by far the biggest scoring threat for Santa Clara. CPU opponents almost always play Box&1 against them, but they mess up and Box&1 cover SG Flores. Flores is actually starting at SG and Orlowski comes off the bench ... perhaps that is the detail that is confusing things?
